There is something wrong with Coulee's foot. I've avoided blogging about it because we aren't sure what it is yet. It could be trauma, it could be Lupus or it could be Cancer. Or hell, it could be something else all together. My vet has never seen anything like it.
We are nearing the end of our 2 weeks "wait and see" and there has been very little change in her pad. It is smoother looking, but is still discoloured and not normal looking. We've been putting vaseline on it to help with the dryness and and she's been wearing a bootie while out on walks.
At least she has been wearing a bootie for most of the walk... We seem to lose them on a very regular basis. And yes, they are Muttluks, and no, I can't seem to get them on tight enough so that they don't fall off. I think she does it on purpose.
Wish us luck - we go to the vet tomorrow for our recheck!
EDIT: 5 p.m. Sunday night - It looks freaking awesome! Seriously. The change in the last 12 hours has been amazing. Not sure what the hell is going on but I'm feeling very optimistic about the vet tomorrow!!!!

Poor Coulee:(:( I sure hope it isn't anything serious, I'll be sending good vibes her way!
Hi
il nostro pensiero sarà per Coulee domani.
Pregheremo che tutto vada OK !
Aspettiamo di leggere sue notizie.
Buona serata :)
Myriam
Could it be an irritation from walking on road salt? Or some type of fungus?
I returned the Muttluks I bought because the wouldn't stay on for more that a couple steps at a time. I bought some cheep-o $20 booties and I haven't had a problem with them.
Good Luck at your vet appointment.
There is no smell so we are sure it isn't fungus. We never walk on the streets so it probably isn't salt either. We are assuming it isn't frostbite as otherwise it would be on all her feet. AND it doesn't look like any frostbite the vet has ever seen.
I bought those booties that look like (and feel like) balloons and those seem to stay on OK, and at least it was only $30 for 12, instead of $50 for 4!
Thanks for all keeping your fingers crossed! It will be nice to just know, so I can stop obsessing.
Good luck at the vets tomorrow!!! That's funny that you get 12 boots - do they assume a big loss factor?
Deb - technically they are disposable. They will probably rip with only a little wear. We've only used them in the house so far after putting Vaseline on her foot.
good luck tomorrow , fingers crossed for good news!!!
So sorry to hear about Coulee's paw. I hope you hear good news today at the vet!
