More Please

Coulee did not want to come in...

Then I thought I convinced her and she did this instead...

From on High

We were trapped in our backyard today. I wanted to go out into the park behind our house but the snow drifts prevented me from opening the fence.  So instead we just played in the backyard.  Coulee never got a chance to really stretch her legs, but Lacey enjoyed standing on top of the snow banks demanding the frisbee be given to her.

All to Myself

As I mentioned yesterday, Coulee was really enjoying playing by herself at the dog park, while Lacey sat huddling in the car trying to stay warm.

Personally I wished I was inside with Lacey.  It is cold out there!

But I know if Coulee doesn't get at least some exercise during the day, we will regret it that evening.

No exercise leads to cat chasing, Lacey beat downs, and endless games of fetch.

With exercise however Coulee is sweet, sleepy and pleasant to be around at night.

Last evening she relaxed in the basement a few feet away with a ball within easy reach.  That is my kind of night.

A quiet evening is always worth 30 minutes in the bitter cold.

I just really wish it didn't have to be quite so cold!

More Fun

Lacey wussed out in about 5 minutes at the dog park today so Coulee didn't need to share the toy. To say that she was delighted would be an understatement.

More Random Pics

Just a few more random pictures from yesterday... It is too early to come up with text so you are going to have to just be content with pics.  :)

Snow Toys

We are quickly learning which toys are not compatible with snow.

I must go through this every winter.

We lost the Lunker the other day.  :(  It got buried in snow and Coulee and I couldn't find it for.  She looked and looked but Lacey's feet began to freeze so we had to abandon it.

So we've switched to the Hydroplane as it won't sink below the snow nearly as easily.

It is also a hit with the girls, but there is no cooperative fetching with this toy.  Lacey always caves to the pressure.  I think it is because they have to hold on to it so close together.

But I love the "amusement factor" of this toy.

Coulee is usually a little more straight laced than Lacey, but the snowy look is funny in itself.

You know it is cold out when the snow IN her mouth hasn't melted!!!

We weren't out there long and I kept them the moving the entire time so they could stay relatively warm.  Thankfully it was enough.  They are now peacefully sleeping next to the nice warm fire.

Out of the Deep White Sea

I'm sure the novelty of the pure white background will wear off shortly and I'll be screaming for more colour in my photos but I'm really enjoying the way Lacey looks like she is just popping out of nothing.

I'm just a little obsessed actually and can't wait to get out there again today to take some more while it isn't actually snowing.

I'm just patiently waiting until it gets above -20 C to venture out.

Au' Natural

Coulee is enjoying the snow just as much as Lacey is.  She just enjoys it naked.  :)

Cooperation

So usually when the girls get the toy at the same time, this is what happens...

And then Coulee lip curls, and Lacey gives up.  But yesterday something magical happened.  They brought the toy back together.

It wasn't always willingly, but neither one would admit defeat.

And they didn't just do it once.

They did it a few times.

Lacey was usually hauling Coulee along behind her.  Coulee really wanted to do her neurotic sniffing, but had to follow the toy or lose it.

Have you noticed how pleased Lacey looks in all the pictures and how "un-pleased" Coulee looks?  LOL

Coulee tried a few times to stand her ground, but it never worked.

And another miracle happened yesterday too.  They stopped to pose for a picture!

PS - I've remembered why I hate photographing a black dog when it is actually snowing... Every bit of snow between Lacey and the camera totally shows up!

The Empress' New Clothes

So I've never been one to dress up Lacey.

Although believe me, it has been tempting.

I think Marlin would kill me if I put her in a cute t-shirt though.

So up until now, I've resisted.

But when I saw these winter coats by Ruffwear, I couldn't resist.  And I got away with it because this sweater has a purpose.

And I gotta say - I love this sweater.  Her back legs were all frosty and cold but her little belly was all toasty and warm.

And most importantly... Doesn't she look cute?!
