Off to the Vet

It is Coulee's turn to go to the vet this week.

I don't want to go!
Her nose has been bleeding a bit on and off while we are out on walks.  Never a lot of blood and never for long.

The first time it happened, I thought she must have bumped it.

The second time it happened, I decided it was the cold air.

Every time it happened after that, I still thought it was the cold air.

Then I decided to ask on Facebook if anyone else's dog ever does this.

Apparently not.

Soooo.... It could be another sign of Lupus.  Or it could be me being paranoid.  So we are getting a blood test done that has lots of false positives and lots of false negatives.  What is the point?  I'm not sure exactly.  My vet said that if we get a negative in the middle of her having an issue, it is highly unlikely to be a false negative.  So that will be the only result we can actually trust.  So here's hoping for a negative.

I find myself obsessively staring at her nose now. The more you look at dog noses, the weirder they look.  Try it.  You'll see what I mean.

Enough Already!

I know, I know.  All we do is complain about the weather.

But come on.

Enough already.

I Miss My Camera

This would have been in focus with my other camera.  And it is so cute...  Sigh.

Jack Frost

Someone came into work with a kitten they had found out in the cold.

How could I say no?

We named him Jack (Frost) because it has been such a cold winter to be homeless.

He needs a home.  Know anyone looking for a new guy in their life?

He is cute, cuddly, good with other cats, a little leary of dogs (but he's learning) and got a clean bill of health (along with his first vaccines) from the vet.

PS - I miss my camera!  It is WAY better at indoor photos.

Better with Friends

Yesterday me and the girls met up with Deirdre, Cricket and Jetta for a walk.

We went to Peenaquim on the northside. I hadn't been there for months and months.  Wow.  Was it busy.  The parking area was full and there were dogs everywhere.  We snuck off to the side and managed to only run into a few groups of dogs. I think Coulee and Lacey would have been in culture shock if we had wandered into the fray.

The girls all had lots of fun. Cricket spent most of her time exploring the brush.  Coulee played fetch.  Lacey wandered near our feet and would check out the good finds that Cricket discovered and Jetta laid in wait for Cricket to emerge and play.

Most importantly Deirdre and I got a chance to chat.  Something we haven't done for a while!

We really need to do that more often.

Vet Visit

Lacey went into the vet for her annual check-up this morning.  It was the least stressful visit ever.

We went into an exam room and had about 5 minutes to ourselves.  I plunked down on the floor and Lacey promptly went and sat in a corner.  So I threw cookies throughout the room.  She eventually wandered out, ate the cookies, gave things a cursory sniff and then went back to her corner.  So I did it again.  And again.

She eventually settled in next to me so I just sat and massaged her neck and back.  She started to relax.  Then the vet peeked in.  She brought more cookies.  Lacey took them from her hand and then settled back in the corner.  So I threw more cookies on the floor between me and the vet while we chatted.  Lacey came out once for the cookies and then laid down at my feet.

The vet and I talked.  Lacey just laid there.  We discovered that the vaccine combination that she needed wasn't at the clinic and that the combination they usually used would be giving Lacey a vaccine that she had just had last year (we went to a different, yet "related" clinic this time).  So we opted to wait until they got the vaccine Lacey needed.

Lacey got one last cookie from the vet, one last cookie from me and bolted out of there.  Phew.  But we are going to do it all over again on Friday.  And this time, someone other than me is going to have to touch her.  Oh the horrors!!!

Oh and just for the record - she is 15 kg.  Quite the little tank!

You Scratch My Back...

...I'll scratch yours!

This was taken through the window - sorry for the haze.  They aren't very clean!
